hello again

leaves, lucy
so! i have not posted in forever.. work was really crazy around the holidays. here are a couple of the dolly knitting projects from the last few weeks...

i think i need to take the girls out somewhere interesting.. they must be getting tired of the pink fabric background.

now mostly for my benefit...
my dolly want-list! )

pullipy stuff

leaves, lucy
apparently i am really out of it. i had no idea there was going to be a type 4 pullip body. awesome! i never really liked the type 3. i appreciate that there won't be any hands flying off or anything, but they're so scrawny and inflexible.

here is lucy's partially knitted halloween costume:

boo!

i was going for ghost but i don't know how well that turned out. oh well. and since i only ended up making one halloween-related hat for my shop, i'm already thinking of christmas.. maybe santa hats? i have a little bit of this white floofy sparkly yarn that would be perfect for the trim.

i never have a subject

leaves, lucy
so.. been doing more dolly knitting. they haven't been getting enough attention from me lately (what else is new?) but i have an idea for a shoot.. too bad i won't have time until next week.

a scarf to match the sweater! and i'm working on some legwarmers.

love scarves.

and now share in my bad lighting woe...

graham

arrgh. i can't wait to actually have a place for the dolls. it looks like it's going to be a bit longer before we move than i thought, though. (i know, no job opportunities for someone who went to art school? shocking!) i'm hoping the etsy thing starts to pick up again over the next couple months. i guess it's a good thing i haven't liked any of the new pullips recently. least i don't feel like i'm missing out. d=

now knitting content! here's the hat i made from that handspun:

finished.

i went with a simple hat shape to show off the yarn (wacky, the way i like it.) the picture is not all that great.. there are lovely glittery bits in it and it is awesome and comfy. i will wear it even though it it's only september. knittydirtygirl's stuff is awesome and she just started a batt club. sigh! (should i start dropping christmas gift hints to people yet, or is it too early? too bad the boy is oblivious.)

okay, going to go eat dinner now.. happy soon-to-be weekend, people.

yarn-related things

yarn, handspun
okay fine, i made one too!

Photobucket

my boyfriend saw it and said, "who's he?" sigh.

i spun up some yarn from two knittydirtygirl batts..

yum.

they are now a hat that i want to wear even though it's almost 80 outside. (no pics yet.)

i also finished another little cardigan:

teeny cardigan

yay! my button obsession is growing.

also.. anyone else on plurk?? (=

decisions..

i have been seriously thinking about getting a blythe. realize that i have never ever been much of a blythe fan. i don't know what's gotten into me, but... i'm considering who would be a good "starter" doll. (as in fairly cheap.) the thing is, i mostly like kenners, and not a lot of the new ones have the same sort of look. i guess the ones i like so far are hello harvest and tailor gibson. (i like freckles.) i don't really know that much about them. it's going to be quite a while before i have the money, anyway.

i put together a new little ad-thing, which i guess shows better what sort of stuff i have in my shop..

fear my super photoshop skills.

and my latest finished knitting project:

hedgehog in a top hat

yes, it's a hedgehog in a top hat. i had made a hedgehog for my boyfriend's little brother for christmas, then boyfriend requested one for himself. wearing a top hat.

foods and things

leaves, lucy
soo.. it seems that i've been spending so much time knitting little dolly things that i haven't really been paying much attention to the dolls themselves. mostly to use them as hat models.

tealy lavendery

(i guess type 2s can be pretty.. voluptuous after all.)

and some other knittery things in progress:

in progress...

as modeled by my new copy of pride and prejudice. they had these cool vintage-y looking hardcover copies at borders, with the original illustrations and gold leaf covers.. and i realized that i had somehow gotten to be this age without ever reading it in it's entirety. i guess now's the time!

and now for foods. eric and i improvised a smoothie-sort of thing off a recipe on a carton of newman's own limeade. (mm.) it was mostly so i would have a reason to use the bottle of kefir i bought, just because. so:

1 cup berries (we had strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. used 'em all.)
1 cup kefir (you can use plain yogurt)
1/2 cup limeade
1/2 cup pomegranate/something juice (i'm so good)
and a handful of ice.

it was tasty, if a bit tart. eric said it needed sugar. you may agree. it also made too much for two people so...

popsicles.

kefir pops! the only downside is that the strawberry seeds gathered at the end.

num.

hm, what else.. the doll couture team has organized a fourth of july sale, and i'm in! here be my sale section. and i knit up a cute tiny pullip cardigan out of some leftover sock yarn, but ran out of sun before i could photograph it. now story will match my socks.

dolly couture

leaves, lucy
it's been a while.. i haven't even gotten to talk about the massachusetts sheep & wool festival! i got some tasty spunky eclectic roving in neapolitan.

new roving

except i haven't gotten started with it yet. there was that pinky sock yarn that i was still plying on the spindle.. so i had to finish that up. (finally done, in its entirety! only took a year) then i realized i still had roving from last year's festival. seriously. still untouched. so i felt i should work on that first. (blue/purple/white romney, 2-ply worsted weight-ish for a hat!) sigh...

now pullip pics! )

and i'm now part of an etsy team, doll couture! here's our treasury. lots of talented people! i so want a lati yellow. and a spinning wheel.

knitting hats

leaves, lucy
so, i scouted out measurements for blythe and knitted up a hat.

Photobucket

it would be nice if i actually had a blythe around to try it on, but... maybe if i sell a hundred of these. anyway, here it is. and i made my first sale last week! i've been thinking of putting the money toward some cute doll-sized buttons...

etsy shop live!

leaves, lucy
so i've jumped on the etsy bandwagon at last. my store is up at synesthetick.etsy.com. i think the photos might be kinda crappy; it was actually too bright out today, and that was with my camera's iso at at 80. it's hard to tell on my old-ass laptop screen, anyway.. i may need to invest in a dslr for reals.

yellow ribbon

i've also reached my 200 photo limit on flickr. boo flickr, again. it turns out it did accept my calorimetry picture... three times. it just didn't tell me.

calorimetry

after reading all the sizing issues everyone's been having, i cast on 110 stitches instead on 120 and it was perfect. however, i still did the full 15 repeats and it seems kind of a lot too wide. it's hard to tell.. my hair is so short now it looks a little funny on me anyway. i like it, though. now for a button! there are so many awesome ones on etsy...

back to knitting.

yarn, handspun
finally! semester done. now my plan goes into action: open etsy shop. i tried to start taking pictures of the stuff i have already, but it was crazy windy today and the light indoors was no good. i guess we can say this is a preview..

we'll just pretend they're not horribly blurry. jeez.

anyway, the shop will be at synesthetick.etsy.com. (nothing there yet.)

i also finished my calorimetry but flickr isn't letting me upload at the moment. boo flickr.
